HOW can you get here?
By air, car, or bus, or even cruise ship at times!! The most common way from overseas is to fly into either Auckland , Wellington, or Christchurch International airports, and hire a rental car to drive yourselves to wherever you want to go, by following a good road map. Most people would plan out their trip in advance with the help and advice of a travel agent, taking into account how much time they have available. To see all of New Zealand properly would take at least a month, if driving by car, so many people will only visit the main holiday destinations, or perhaps only cover one island per trip. If you do not wish to drive yourselves, a common way to travel is by coach, on an arranged tour of the main tourist destinations, staying at pre-arranged hotels or tourist lodges. This can be good if you don't want the responsibility of finding accommodation, but it means you are tied to a set program, and it is a more expensive way of travelling..
Many
people like hiring self drive campervans, and just doing a leisurely
trip, stopping wherever they like, and sleeping in the van at motor
camps, or at off road stopping places.
We find most of our guests are self drive motorists, who enjoy making their own plans, of where they go, and where they stop over at night.
We also cater for sports people who visit Dunedin
for many and varied sporting activities, whether competing, or just
following a particular sporting event. These people
would usually fly into Dunedin Airport from other New Zealand
cities, and hire a rental car in which to get around. There are also
door to door shuttle buses which operate from the airport into the
city, or to anywhere within the city boundaries. Taxis are another but
more expensive option. We run a free courtesy
vehicle for our guests, from either the airport or the city,
if required. Brighton is 20 minutes drive from
either the airport or Dunedin city centre. We are situated right on the
main road into Brighton, which is a very small coastal
township of about a thousand people on the south east
coast, DUNEDIN city population numbers about
120,000
